Today I enjoyed the opportunity to escape the stress of grad school and my personal life with a friend who popped into Boston for the day. We ventured out to Burlington where I experienced the sights, smells, and tastes of a Korean grocery store for the first time. We collected ingredients to make kimbap, a delicious, light snack similar to Japanese sushi, that my friend planned to bring to her Taekwondo tournament tomorrow. Throughout the day we shared reflections on recent happenings in our respective lives as well as fun memories over the past year. Despite my huge work load for the weekend, spending the day with my friend was much appreciated as it provided me a healthy distraction and an opportunity to enjoy her company as we are both moving on from our recent challenges.
